Behaviour change for events

Drive your audiences to more sustainable behaviours without needing to tell them

Are you an event manager who is dreaming of future events where audiences and staff:

Think about the environmental impacts of their actions

Adopt sustainable behaviours

Think about the environmental impacts of their actions

Read your signage

Use bins correctly

Perhaps your client has asked you to deliver a ‘green event’

But you know that the audience just don’t seem to care about eco things and even less so when they are at events.

Imagine delivering events where your audiences embrace your sustainability initiatives

Adopting behaviour change theory for events can help you:

  • Understand your audience’s behaviours and defaults at events
  • Discover why they don’t see or read your messaging
  • Identify the right moment to communicate with them
  • Drive their behaviour to the sustainable choice
  • Opportunities to communicate in completely different ways

This workshop will show you how behaviour change principles can transform the way audiences behave at your events without you needing to lecture people!

Who am I to be facilitating this session?

I have worked in a variety of event roles from hospitality to sponsorship.
Whilst working as the Sustainable Event Manger for Shambala festival, (one of the greenest festivals in the UK), I was introduced to the principles of behavioural psychology, in order to reduce littering. It was a revelation and I have never looked back.

I have used the principles to:

Reinforce the social norms of tidy campsites with flags.

Given corporate event attendees the chance to be the ‘hero’ in a free t-shirt replacement forest protection initiative.

There are so many ways to apply behavioural science to reduce the environmental impacts of your events and I am excited to share these with you!
