We, the Sustainable Sidekicks understand that the operations and processes of our organisation: consultancy, talks, online courses and workshops can have both positive and negative environmental, social and economic impact.
Our purpose and mission for 2019-2020 is to support businesses in developing sustainable practices and minimising negative impacts. Consequently we are committed to showing leadership in the field of business sustainability.
Our core values are:
Love of Mother Nature – Whilst all our business and event activities will aim to minimise impact on nature, we will also actively support and engage in conservation, climate change strikes and other activities and events that protect and highlight the beauty and fragility of our only home.
Not in our name – To minimise indirect financial investment in schemes that have negative environmental, social and ethical impact by reviewing the financial institutions and procurement options we utilise.
Sustainable development – To build an enterprise that can grow financially, balancing imminent requirements with a vision of an environmentally safe future that allows for slow travel, remote working and a new economic paradigm.
Reduce, reuse, upcycle and last of all recycle – To minimise our demand of natural resources we will plan all activities, events and procurement considering second-hand, hire and repair before purchasing new items. Waste management is considered in similar terms with recycling as the fourth option in recognition of its use of raw materials.
To inspire and be inspired – Celebrating examples and tools of best practice whilst investing time and resources into continual learning and inspiring green entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs.
As part of our pledge to Bristol Green Capital (to create a low-carbon city) we, the Sustainable Sidekicks have identified the following areas to focus on for 2019-2020:
Sustainable Development Principles
Within this commitment we will endeavour to continually improve and review all of our operations.

Sustainable Development Principles
- To showcase best practice and inspire change with our online course platform
- To continue to develop our network of sustainable suppliers and businesses
- To repair rather than replace items
- To reduce energy consumption and advocate energy efficient practices
- To participate in all climate strikes as a business and call on others to do the same
- To join the Fridays for the Future strikes
- To reduce carbon footprint through transport, food choices and campaigning activities
- To actively support and promote local and international conservation and charity projects with gifts in-kind and financial donations
Within this commitment we will endeavour to continually improve and review all of our operations.
